FAQs
Do I need to be a Buckets Club member to play?
Yes. A Buckets Club membership is required to register for any Buckets Cup tour event. Your membership ID will be requested at registration. PGA Section Pros can register without membership for the Pro Division, but space is limited to 1 pro per group.
Is this only for elite players?
No. The Buckets Cup is a Pro/Am tour with three divisions: Pro, Gross Amateur, and Net Amateur. The format is designed to be competitive yet inclusive for all skill levels with a valid GHIN handicap.
How do handicaps work?
All events are GHIN-verified. Handicaps are locked 30 days before competition. Net scoring includes a -5 net cap to prevent sandbagging, with ties broken by lower handicap index to ensure fair play.
What's the format?
18-hole stroke play, single-day competition. All players must walk—no caddies allowed. Scoring is handled via physical scorecard and a Scoring Official walking with each group for live leaderboards.
How do I qualify for the Championship?
Win any division at any tour stop for automatic qualification. Or accumulate Bucket Points with top-10 finishes—the top 4 Pro, top 3 Gross, and top 3 Net point scorers earn Championship invitations.
Is Buckets Club going away?
No. Buckets Club remains the community foundation. The Buckets Cup is an evolution—a competitive pathway built on top of Buckets Club for members who want to test their game on a national stage with real stakes.
What prizes are available?
Across the season: $500K+ in total prizing including cash, Malbon merchandise, and partner products. The Championship purse is $100K, plus the Pro Champion earns a one-year Malbon apparel deal and Srixon equipment deal.
What's the experience like?
Premium and immersive. Expect LED leaderboards, live-streamed featured holes, closing dinner ceremonies, retail activations, and exclusive product drops. This is competitive golf built for modern coverage and culture.
